Welcome to ..... O-h-h-h, it's a blog?

Yes, no, maybe .... we will just say it is an attempt to create a blog but not a regular blog. I think this would  be considered more of a  reference website/blog? I don't believe there is a description for it, here is an idea, the readers can decide if it is a blog or something else, if it is something else, what would you (the readers) call it? I have nearly 500 friends on my Facebook  page and I think it is safe to say that at least  half of them are bloggers. I follow many of their blogs, of course I can't follow all of them all of the time but I follow as many as I can at any given time. The purpose of  my endeavor here is to compile  groups of  informative resources  for  my readers in  this new/failing economy that we must contend with. It is my hope that some of  the information found within the pages of this blog (we will call it a blog  for now) will  help by instruction on saving and preserving the resources we may have at hand. I feel it has become necessary to stretch our  income  as much as possible and save when and where we can! I believe our economy is quickly passing the stage of a recession and coming dangerously close to another depression, not to be an alarmist but if we aren't careful in our planning for this nation  and our own  future who knows what tomorrow might bring.

Thirty days hath September .........

April, June and November, wait .. what? I must be very confused, wasn't yesterday the  4th of July? I find it hard to believe that it is nearly Christmas .. again?   Halloween or  Thanksgiving, which is your favorite?  I switch, one year my favorite is Thanksgiving and the next, Halloween, I think it depends on the age of my grandchildren because each year they change and  I have noticed that nothing lifts my spirits like the excitement of my grandchildren! This year my great granddaughter who is 10 years old has decided to be a Gothic Skeleton Girl  (in costume only) and her little sister who is 4 has decided to be a Skeleton Ballerina  (that should be an interesting costume).  I have been thinking about the  hayrides we were fortunate enough to enjoy when I was a child, the maze in the cornfield and don't forget the scavenger hunts, those were a lot of fun for the Harvest Festival, great memories! If you have fond memories of activities that you enjoyed during these holidays, please share, we would love to read about them.

Where are they, I can't seem to find them .....

then I look in  the mirror, ahhh, there they are  staring back at me. I am of course   referring to  the older but wiser eyes and the wrinkles that are  etched into my face by  years of life  that have   managed to march ahead and escape me! In case you haven't noticed  I am thinking about the past, no, this is not a pity trip or  one of those, "if I could  I would go back and change everything," whims. I might not change anything  given the chance, just maybe a " tweak" here and there but a huge ear to advice I chose to ignore. I am thinking back to when life was  simple  and fun.  I lived in a small town and  if you met anyone on the street, you or someone in your family knew them and yes, they actually recognized and spoke to you! I wish this were  true today so our children and grandchildren could experience some of the simple pleasures we enjoyed  such as the "corner drug store/soda shoppe " remember those? You may remember  the neighborhood "sock hop" at the local radio station on Friday evening or  the "picnic basket  raffle and cake walks"  that were used to raise money for local events.  Yes these did exist,  they are realities of  "Yester Years".  Did you enjoy  this  "peek" at the content  of one of the  pages  that will be a window into the past and a " recurring " post  to  this blog ?

So, here it is, time for my "opening" post for this blog and .....

It has been a very "trying day," to say the least. My sister had a minor heart attack last night and refused all day to go to the hospital,we know it was a heart attack because it is  not her first, she took her "nitro" and it subsided ... for now. I had been trying to talk her into going to the hospital most of the day, going back and forth to check on her, thankfully she lives across the street from me but still, more refusal! I asked her to do nothing, take it easy and go to bed, this, she did agree to. I decided to take her something to eat and as I made an attempt to step up on the curb in front of her house, I  misjudged my step and took a hard fall onto the sidewalk. I look back on it now and I am so glad it was getting dark and no one saw me fall.  I'm sure it would have been something to see with me going down and butter beans flying up into my face. I did receive some injuries, an injured elbow, a busted knee, I hit my head on the sidewalk and to make it worse, a badly twisted ankle but so far I have survived, suffering a good bit of pain but survived! I certainly do  hope  this is not going to be the "normal" activity before any of my following posts! I am going to keep this post short because as I mentioned a couple of sentences ago, I am in pain. I hope to continue this post later in the day but for now I must say .. later, may God bless and keep you til then.
